Parish Council

All good things must come to an end and so it is with my position on the Council.  Unfortunately I have resigned from the council because of my extended absence.  I will stand again once I am in a position to do so.

West Dean is one of the largest parish councils, in geographical terms, in Gloucestershire with a population size rivalling many small towns.  Indeed, Bream, with a population of nearly 3000, claims to be the one of the biggest villages in Gloucestershire.  Our area is very diverse embracing a large part of the remaining statutory forest, some small industries and mineral works.  It encompasses many villages and hamlets. Apart from Bream other major areas of population are, Yorkley, Whitecroft, Parkend, Ellwood and Sling, and Mile End.

The area is fairly settled though there are some problems common to all rural and semi-rural areas.  Affordable housing, public transport and local employment amongst them.  These are all outside the area of responsibility of the PC but we seek to advise and influence where we can.
